Vision

The Coalition envisions the future of the West Country where:

• The region thrives as a healthy, ecologically intact area capable of meeting the needs of land and water users in a sustainable manner, without compromising the habitat and health of fish and wildlife or biodiversity.

• Recreation users enjoy a healthy, safe and unpolluted outdoor experience with minimal impact on the environment.

• Diverse and holistic local and regional economies and communities are developed, sustained by, and support a healthy environment.

Purpose / Objectives

• To inform the general public about the value of intact natural areas and engage all Albertans in understanding the importance of the region’s biodiversity resources and why they need to be protected.

• To educate Albertans about the risks associated with large scale or unsuitable developments in these areas (be they industrial, resource related or other).

• To promote responsible and sustainable land use.

• To work with government towards finalising appropriate land use plans for the region.
